Dominos Coming To Cedarcrest Road

Hey everyone just wanted to let you know Dominos will be coming in to the Cedarcrest Pointe Plaza soon. They have changed their menu and serve a whole lot more than pizza. It's great to see a large franchise see our area strong enough to support their brand. Just the beginning of many others coming our way.

Yuck. I can't say that I am happy about this addition. Do ANY of these retailers/restaurants do any research to find out what the residents want? A LOT of people want a Trader Joes (or similar), a farm-to-table restaurant, and a Chick-Fil-A. I've seen a barre studio mentioned, as well as a Bath & Body works, steakhouse, bookstore, Aldi, and dozens more. Never once did a Dominos come up. Or an auto parts store. Or a dollar store. Very disappointing.

    1. I agree! (Although I don't mind Dominos) Were is the research? I haven't seen one person that is excited over the auto parts store or dollar store.

I would think that large communities like Seven Hills, Bentwater, GTC, etc would be their target communities to poll. But we never hear anything. I don't think anyone does market research. And if they looked at the average income, I don't think they'd put a dollar store there. Much less two of them. And exactly how many of us do our own car work that we would need two auto parts stores? No offense, but I hope the businesses fail and they decide to put something else there instead. It's going to be a while before that happens, though.

    3. I think the issue is looking at demographics from 35,000 feet. Seven Hills/Bentwater/GTC are very similar to Cobb County as a whole when it comes to voting, discretionary income, tastes, etc. Unfortunately from a 35,000 foot review, we're lumped into Paulding County. Obviously the rest of the county has a slightly more blue-collar mindset.

    4. I think the cedarcrest area should be annexed into Cobb so that these things would happen. Not that I would enjoy paying my property taxes for the new stadium, but if it brings better business to the area then why not?

  2. We don't need more fast food (and I'm including both Domino's and Chick-Fil-A (worst of all worst)) in that strip mall. God knows there is enough pizza, Mexican, and burger joints down Cedarcrest. We want and will support nicer restaurants. How about a steakhouse or seafood like FishThyme. Neighbors -- hold out and stop supporting the auto parts and dollar stores and fast food crap! We shouldn't have to drive 10 miles to get decent food, and even further to get decent shopping besides Publix and Love Street!

  3. I heard a rumor a while back that Fish Thyme may come to the space beside mellow mushroom. Any word on that?

  4. I don't understand the addition of a Domino's. There's one right down in New Hope. Why would you put another just 4-5 miles down the road? That makes no sense. Personally, I prefer mom & pop stores to chains, but I'm not opposed to stores that I can't access easily otherwise.

  5. I wasn't sure exactly where this was so I looked it up. In with anytime fitness across from La bamba. That makes 5 pizza places within a mile or 2 of each other. I'm not a fan but my kids always said they wished Dominos delivered to us.:/

  6. This Domino's Franchisee is a local business owner who supports our schools and community. He was one of the highest level sponsors of NPHS Baseball this year and has been a sponsor the past three years as well. What you don't know is that his current delivery area stretches from Lost Mountain Road and MacLand (near McEachern HS to the North Shore campground near Hey 41 - this store also delivers to Governors Town Club to Echo Mill off Corner Road in Powder Springs. This franchisee is adding this location to give Seven Hills and Bentwater communities BETTER SERVICE! And be able to deliver to neighborhoods like Senators Ridge and those up and down Dabbs bridge and Hwy 61. You people prove the old adage, folks are usually DOWN on what they're not UP on!!

That's all well and good, but you're missing the point. Many/Most of us DON'T want their pizza! So the "better service" as you say, doesn't make a lick of difference to me. I will not be ordering from them, period. That's what I'm UP on.

  7. Also in regards to research and due diligence about putting a new Domono's store at Pointe Plaza, as a former franchisee I can tell you that Domino's Corporate would not grant permission for a new store unless this was done and a feasibility study was done and approved.

    1. You are very accurate in everything you have said. Our traffic count on Cedarcrest doesn't justify much more at his time. I had Duncan Donuts corporate come out and take a look at one of my parcels on Cedarcrest Road however they said there was not enough morning traffic.

  8. I believe that makes 7 pizza places along Cedarcrest between the Pizza Hut in the Kroger/Crossroads shopping center, and the Mellow Mushroom at Cedarcrest and 41. Too bad the best pizza in the area comes off of my Big Green Egg. I'm all for a business owner making a go of it but I'd rather bring something new to the market than try to hack out a share of an already saturated genre.
